Marine Science BSc with Hons 1996
PGCE (primary) 1998

I have extensive experience teaching and developing learning materials in schools and other settings, working with all age groups both in and out of the classroom. I have worked with children from EYFS to KS4 supporting many students one-to-one to gain confidence and achieve their goals. I believe in building positive relationships, understanding the needs of the learner, to maximise the impact of tuition ensuring students enjoy, succeed and achieve. I am particularly skilled at motivating struggling learners, engaging young people and adapting a range of strategies to suit the student.

Anchor Tutors was founded in 2014 bringing together experienced, qualified, passionate tutors to offer a wide range of subjects and specialities.

I am a fully trained English and Drama teacher and have been teaching since 2014.

I have worked as both a permanent and supply teacher across a variety of subjects in a number of secondary schools, and so I am comfortable teaching classes and tutoring one-on-one across a across a broad range of the curriculum.

I am passionate about giving students the confidence to approach their work without anxiety and the skills to attend school with a driven but relaxed and happy mindset.

I also have extensive experience tutoring SEND pupils, and through my own experience of struggling with dyslexia as a student, I have adopted teaching techniques that improve pupils’ literacy and help them to overcome their academic challenges.

My specialist subjects as a tutor are Maths, Portuguese, Spanish, and English.

I have been teaching for more than thirty years, having first qualified as a Performing Arts teacher – specialising in movement-based and dance techniques – and later as a teacher of Portuguese as a Second Language.

Since 2016, I have been a Lecturer in West London College’s Inclusive Learning Department, teaching young adults with learning disabilities and difficulties.

I am passionate about facilitating my students’ learning, as well as helping them improve their self-confidence, by creating fun ways of practicing maths and communication in different languages.

As a tutor, I pay careful attention to creating lessons that are tailored according to each individual’s specific leaning style and motivations.

I am an English and mathematics tutor across all age ranges.

I have been teaching at Anchor Tutors since 2016. Prior to that I was Head of English for Luton Business and Computing College and then Director and English Tutor at Koma Language School in Civitanova Marche, Italy.

Working with students from all backgrounds – whether excluded from school, having difficulty learning, or those whose first language is not English – can be challenging, but I enjoy the demands of the work because it pushes me to get the most out of my students. Most of all, I enjoy seeing the change in them – whether improving in subjects they find difficult or realising their potential and gaining confidence in their ability.

I am a creative Primary School teacher with extensive experience teaching children from EYFS – KS2.

I am skilled in developing programs for children with SEND, ensuring that each lesson is carefully tailored to their needs. My approach is always child-centred focusing on building a positive and supportive learning environment which boosts confidence, self-esteem and engagement.

At Anchor Tutors, as well as working directly with students, I support other tutors with all aspects of their role and to ensure we work effectively as a team.

I am a professional boxer as well as being head coach at Champs Within, which I founded in 2021. Born in Jamaica and raised in Brixton, an area widely affected by youth violence and gang culture, I wanted to create a space where young people can have a positive outlet to help deal with whatever they may be facing. I wanted to build a platform that could help my friends and other young people find alternative paths in their lives and used boxing as a starting point.

I have over 5 years’ experience as a professional boxer and have been coaching and training people from 5 years old over the past 8 years. I have Level 2 and 3 Personal Training qualifications and have participated in multiple ACEs and early trauma training offered by Lambeth Council.
